Meet the Wolves

Join us for a Keeper Talk highlighting the unique social behaviours of the grey wolf. Meet our wolves and observe the social dynamics of their own pack.

Wolves have a complex vocal communication system, ranging from barks and whine to growls and howls. Additionally, they utilized body language to convey messages. A wolf with it’s tail high signifies aggression while a low or tucked tail indicates tolerance and submission.

As apex predators, wolves play an important role in their ecosystems and their presence can trigger positive ecological change. They help keep deer and elk populations in check, which benefits the growth of plants and animal species. The carcasses of their prey also help to redistribute nutrients and provide food for others, like bears or ravens. Our wolf keeper is excited to point out the different social behaviours our wolve engage in, and talk to you about what happens when species are removed from their ecosystems
