Corn snake
Corn snakes can be found throughout the eastern United States from New Jersey, to Louisiana but they are the most abundant in Florida. This species inhabits wooded groves, rocky hillsides, and meadow-lands. With humans expanding and building in new areas, corn snakes have also had to adapt their habitats, and can now be found in barns, woodlots and even abandoned buildings.

Breeding season for corn snakes is from March to May. Corn snakes lay 10 -30 eggs
at a time, typically from late May to July. The eggs are not cared for by the adult snakes
and are typically laid in rotting stumps, piles of decaying vegetation or other similar locations where there is sufficient heat and humidity to incubate them. Once laid the eggs take about 60-65 days to hatch.

Under human care the lifespan of a corn snake is up to 23 years but is much less
in the wild.
